dty_vkl_ich@gm_ail.c_om Remove all _'s. I hate spambots as much as you do. FAQ's Okay, some of these questions have an absolute frequency of 1, but still... Q: What music program do you use? A: Cakewalk Home Studio 2002. Prior to Opus 20, I wrote with a locally made program called Music Works Pro 2, until it became too basic for what I was trying to achieve (all effects, even simple volume changes, had to be manually coded). Q: When did you start writing fiction and what was your first work? A: I guess I'd look at 1993, when I was eight or nine, when my Grade 4 teacher told my class to write a story. I forget its title, except that it was lame, but the story was about my classmates and I taking a big trip around Australia. It was written in childish innocence and inexperience, it was never finished (wisely), and it was long. I guess I have always been verbose in my writing. Q: When are you going to update the site/write more Rustling Leaves/write more music/do this, that and the other? A: When I have the time and the inclination to. With so many things on and off this site, I am always busy doing something: I have many unfinished projects and whimsical ideas all going on at once on top of my university and work schedules. It doesn't help that my attention span can be shor- hey, what's that over there? Q: How did you get the names for the Mana Knight, the Girl, and the Sprite? A: Randi, Purim and Popoie are the default names for these characters, though not actually in the game. Some say the Japanese instruction manual has them because a magazine over there previewed the game using those names for the characters. Regardless of their origin, there is a general fan-based consensus that these are their names; I'm simply following the precedent. Q: How did you derive the names for "Round Drops", "Puipui Grass" and "Pakkun Chocolate"? In SoM, I only recall "Cup of Wishes" having an official name. The others were just "Candy", "Herb", and "Chocolate". A: These are the names given to the same items in Seiken Densetsu 3, at least by the translators. Q: In all, what languages are there in this universe? A: "In all" is a term I don't like to use as I will always be creating new languages as my writing requires, so all I can answer with is what I have so far (at the time of writing): Fa'Diel's universal language is Pandoran (and has been even before the events described in Secret of Mana), but Empiretongue and Tasnican are also major. Beneath these are a few localised languages, particularly Matangese and Moogle (a.k.a. the Great Forest Languages), Kakkaran, and Todolese. Multehx's language of Rhenzin is borrowed as the language of Mana (I have not changed its name so as to honour its source). Yamauchi is always a work-in-progress as the whims of Nintendo change, so languages tend to be more volatile. However, Mushroom is its universal language. Other languages referred to frequently in my writings are Yoshian and Koopan. Kantolese is spoken in the "Pokémon Countries" of Johto, Kanto and Hoenn. Then, there are a myriad of Pokémon calls and cries that constitutes a language of its own, of sorts. Hyrulian (Hylian is the ancient language) is spoken in Hyrule and Termina. An archaic form of Yoshian is spoken on G'lirer. Q: What did Lich wear before his thongs? A: Depended on the situation (as it still does), but typical Yoshi footwear, except in green.
