Epilogue

Ark closed and put down the first copy of Light and Metaphor from the printing press. He lay on his bed and stared up at the ceiling. “I guess that’s that, huh?” he asked.

Lich nodded, seated on a chair, basking in the afternoon Yoshibane sunshine through the window.

“You know, there’s a lot you didn’t talk about, Dy,” Ark said as he turned to him.

“Like what?” Lich blinked, folding his arms.

“Well, how that incident up in Olympus happened for a start.”

“Not worth repeating.”

“And Tob’s promise?”

“That would be self-conviction in the eyes of the KBT and they would be here faster than the Boomerang. I made mention of ‘community service’ medals for that reason.”

“I also saw that this final revision made no mention of telling me not to call you ‘Lich’ when we were Koyoshies.”

“I thought I covered that elsewhere,” he answered, scratching his head.

“Hmm. You know, that once this gets around, this is going to have people asking questions.”

“Let them come,” Lich smiled, slouching and closing his eyes.

Ark smirked. “Since you’re going to live a long time, will you write a sequel?”

“Perhaps,” he nodded, his eyes still closed. “Depends on what life brings.”

Ark returned the nod, though his brother would not see it, and rolled onto his back with a sigh. “I’ll write a book one day.”

“Good luck,” Lich nodded, opening his eyes. “What on?”

“My life. It would probably be shorter than yours, though. Perhaps I’ll wait until I find my purpose. I’ll make a start on it when I’m ordained.”

Lich chuckled. “Seems I’ve already inspired someone.”

He turned to the window.

“Hopefully, I’ll inspire more.”
