Name:

Kimala Uvenan Tugnoropostu

(Kimala Uvena)

Script:

English:

Guardian of the Cyan Arc (Cyan Arc)

Literal Translation:

Arc Cyan’s Guardian (Arc Cyan)

Notes:

Lich’s title and main profession. The Cyan Arc is an incredibly powerful Boomerang of Light that is renowned for its ability to be thrown and caught again in the blink of an eye. It has historical links to many places, important figures, and also to the Ebony Lance. The name is a result of this quote:

“What I don't get, Ark, is why you decided on ‘Ebony Lance’. It doesn't have anything…poetic about it. I mean, you tell someone that this is the Cyan Arc, the poetry in the name heightens the power, they're in awe. ‘Ebony Lance’ falls dead on my lips.” –Lich, Twilighter Council: Chapter 12 – Brothers-in-Arms

Name:

Paralomuta Vudaebalankaka

Cannon Travel Network

Literal Translation:

Network Travel-Cannon

Notes:

See Secret of Mana.

Cannon Travel, i.e. being shot out of a cannon and landing on another part of the planet, assisted by Mana, is the main form of long-distance travel on Fa’Diel. The Cannon Travel Network, the body that governs the use of Cannon Travel, acts as a fully independent quasi-sovereign organisation, meaning that the nations of Fa’Diel can only exercise their authority in part upon it (usually in the form of “requests”). All land it uses for its travel centres and gunpowder mines is extra-territorial. The Network adamantly retains neutrality and it will not allow nations to launch soldiers into hostile territory. Under the Treaty of Mandala, nations are not permitted to create their own Cannon Travel. Founded in Kippo, its headquarters are located in Matango, the central transportation hub of Fa’Diel.

Order of the Guardians and Sages of Fa’Diel, The

(The Guardians)

Literal Translation:

Order (of the) Guardians and Sages (of) Fa’Diel, The

(The Guardians)

Notes:

An Order created after the Resurrection of the Fortress to ensure that such an event does not happen again (much like the role of the United Nations); namely, to defend one’s station with their life to prevent its use by corrupted hands. Admittance is through the demonstration of outstanding ability in a particular field (especially for the creation of Palace Guardians), or through a need for a location or an artefact of power to be safeguarded (e.g. Gold Island, the Cyan Arc, Wisdom etc.). The term “Sage” tends only to be used to describe those posts traditionally held by those who had that title, such as Wisdom and the Water Palace (though many regard the current Water Palace Guardian too young to be called a “Sage”). The eight Palace Guardians (those who Guard the Mana Seeds) act as the masters of the Order, with the other Guardians answerable to one of them either through being near the closest Palace or through Elemental alliance. Longevity and the ability to be above some laws (as dictated by the Charter of the Order of the Guardians and Sages of Fa’Diel) are bonuses of the title.

Location:

Throughout in short form, especially Twilighter Council; Nil translation into Pandoran. Name first referred to as part of the Charter in Twilighter Council: Chapter 420 – Gulto Happens

Important People

Name:

Ark Beruga Yoshi von Kippo

Script:

Notes:

Lich’s younger brother. Guardian of the Ebony Lance. Magenta skin.

Hatched a child prodigy, he was forced to endure many of his formative years in isolation after being swept into an underground cave system beneath Pandora. After the events of When We Meet Again, he was reunited with Lich and turned his attention more fully towards robotics after the events of Rustling Leaves: his goal is to create a robot with artificial intelligence. While in isolation, he was acted upon by Lich’s arcane foes to believe his brother had betrayed him; these feelings are annulled until events in Twilighter Council tip Ark into a pit of conflicting feelings towards him.
